Our client is a leading airport supplier. They have units located within airports in the UK and around the World. This role is based at their site in Heathrow. We are looking for a someone with relevant experience. Someone that will slot into a very busy and friendly team. The requirement is for a Logistics Manager to manage the team and deliver business objectives. The role involves managing staff that are transporting / loading goods onto the planes. Looking after the logistics/ transport
- To communicate, engage and develop team members to enable them to maximise their contribution to team performance.
- To optimise manpower, product and equipment levels, creating and maintaining the necessary conditions for a productive, efficient and well functioning work environment.
- To gather and analyse performance information, identify issues and solutions and report on progress as required (daily, weekly, monthly)
- To establish and meet customer (internal and external) requirements.
- Resolve operational issues in a cost effective, timely and sustainable manner.
- Fully manage the shift operation and ensure effective hand over to other shifts and customers.
- Follow Company procedures and effectively complete all shift documentation (CCP's/Temp checks).
- Identify and deliver improvements in services, products, systems and people through continuous improvements to maximise the efficiency of the operation.
- To activity performance manage the team and individuals and give constructive feedback and coaching where required.
- Agree, monitor and maintain strict KPI's/ SLA's with key suppliers.
- Ensure full understanding and follow legislative requirements in line with Health and Safety, Security and Environment controls
- Monitor budgets
- Management of the shift staff ensuring logistics are delivered on time
- Communication and reporting on key issues
- Recruitment, selection and development
- Issue warnings up to and including final written warning.
- Contract hours are 42 hrs per week
We are looking for candidates with previous experience in dealing with heavy workloads and juggling' many tasks at once as well as ;
- 2+ years of front line management experience
- Ability to work shifts
- Proven experience of managing logistics/ transport within a manufacturing, airline, airport catering or production process - Ideal
- Understanding of budgets and KPI's
- Understanding of health and safety, security regulations (DTLR)
- PC Skills (Word/Email/Excel)
